Situated on Lake Metigoshe, known to the Chippewa as Metigoshe Washegum “Clear water lake surrounded by oaks,” the state park has become both a local hotspot for winter activities as well as a major vacation area year round.
With many beautiful trembling poplar and rich hills, the park allows the modern conveniences of dormitories, cabins available for rent and kitchen and meeting facilities. There are also many locations for camping, both RV and traditional. For winter activities, As Lake Metigoshe State Park is located within the Turtle Mountains, winter activites range from skiing, skating, ice fishing and sledding as well as providing 250 miles of trails for snowmobiles.
