With over 90,000 residents, Fargo is located on the Red River. The booming city is a hot spot for sports fans as it houses the Fargo Redhawks and many other collegiate sports from North Dakota State University. Several options are there for arts and entertainment such as the Fargo Theatre, Plains Art Museum and The Fargo-Moorhead Symphany.
Named after William G. Fargo, a founder of American Express and Wells-Fargo Express and director of the Northern Pacific Railway, the city has an abundance of history. The area gained nation-wide recognition from the 1996 box office hit "Fargo." Baseball player Roger Maris, Songartist Jonny Lang and singer Bobby Vee had their first starts in this beautiful area. It is possible the influence of these icons helped to ensure the Blues Festival is such a success.
