With over 90,000 residents, Fargo is located on the Red River. The booming city is a hot spot for sports fans as it houses the Fargo Redhawks and many other collegiate sports from North Dakota State University. Several options are there for arts and entertainment such as the Fargo Theatre, Plains Art Museum and The Fargo-Moorhead Symphany.
History
Named after William G. Fargo, a founder of American Express and Wells-Fargo Express and director of the Northern Pacific Railway, the city has an abundance of history. The area gained nation-wide recognition from the 1996 box office hit "Fargo." Baseball player Roger Maris, Songartist Jonny Lang and singer Bobby Vee had their first starts in this beautiful area. It is possible the influence of these icons helped to ensure the Blues Festival is such a success.

Clay County Museum And Archives: Established in 1932 as a way to preserve Clay County's History, the museum is free and open to the public. Galleries filled with ever-changing exhibits cover the abundance of local history in the area. Artifacts dislpayed tell stories of ancestors to the smallest details. Fundamental aspects of the unique cultures that came to this area, such as Mexicanos in the early 1920's, paints a picture of what daily life was like. The mixture of cultures and traditions still thrive today in Fargo.
Red River Valley Fair: A huge event in the state, the fair offers 80 campsites for the visitors from all over. The fair, a weeklong event, will be June 16th - 24th, 2006. With performances by Phil Vasser, Poison, Neal McCoy, Sawyer Brown and JoDee Messina to name a few, fairgoers are always entertained. The Red River Valley Speedway delivers exciting and suspensful races throughout the week and a fireworks display always brightens up the night.
