Fort Seward Park
As the only Flags Across America site in North Dakota, visitors to Fort Seward can view artifacts from archaeological digs as well as a display of American flags honoring the patriotism of the veterans who served.
The US Army established Fort Seward in 1872 to protect the railroad workers who were building the Northern Pacific Railroad. Initially called Camp Sykes, the name was changed to honor Secretary of State William H. Seward. After it was decommissioned in 1877, the fort was transferred to the Interior Department.
The park also hosts the annual Fort Seward Wagon Trail. The trail allows visitors to take a historic and fun journey back in time and find out how frontier people truly lived.
